This year’s 22nd annual Haitian Compas Festival is canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, organizers announced Tuesday.
Originally scheduled for late May to pay tribute to Haiti’s Flag Day commemoration, the Compas fest is now set to take place in May 15, 2021 in Miami, Florida.
"However, the Governor’s Executive Order is clear. In order to protect the safety and wellbeing of all concerned, we cannot risk bringing large crowds together during these challenging times," Festival board members said.
Other notable summer Haitian events in Florida have also been canceled due to the pandemic.
