Trump nominates Austin Holmes as US ambassador to Haiti

President Donald Trump has nominated Austin Holmes, of Florida, to serve as Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to the Republic of Haiti, the White House announced Monday. 

Holmes has extensive experience in Haiti spanning humanitarian response, security and private-sector operations.

He is CEO of RallyX and has served as CEO of Caribbean Security Group and chairman of Mission of Hope.

According to his biography, he previously lived in Haiti, speaks Haitian Creole and has worked in the country since 2009.

The nomination was included in a slate of 41 names the white House sent to the senate on September 14, covering Judicial, Diplomatic and agency posts.
