President Jovenel Moise Removed two top government officials on Monday in a purge of people linked to a corruption scandal that sparked violent mass protests.
The cabinet chief and the secretary general of the presidency were removed from office along with 15 government advisers, an official announcement said.
“To have a healthy process, President Jovenel has decided to rid the environment of people link to Petrocaribe scandal without admitting they are guilty of anything,” Prime Minister Jean Henry Céant said at a Press Conference.
“The Courts will say who is guilty or not,” Prime Minister Céant Added.
“We are going to create an independent commission to investigate the truth of Petrocaribe funds and a foreign firm will be chosen” Céant Told the Jounalists.
