Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant has resigned amid widespread unrest following his failed attempt to increase fuel prices.
"I submitted my resignation to the president of the republic," who has "accepted my resignation," Lafontant said in the lower house.
The deputies had called on the prime minister to answer questions after riots erupted last week.
The announcement sparked protests, with streets in Port-au-Prince and other cities blocked with barricades of debris and burning tires.
