Venezuela have agreed to reactivate the bi-national committee to fund a variety of development projects in Haiti.
"We are reactivating our bi-national guide committee to be able to finance development projects in Haiti," Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza said on Wednesday following a meeting with Haitian counterpart Antonio Rodrigue.
The agreement includes a variety of agricultural projects, with are expected to result in the production of many of the commodities enjoyed by Venezuelans through President Nicolas Maduro's social programs, Arreaza said.
"This is a very important day for us Haitians, so we will be able to count on that support that Venezuela gives us for the development program as social projects, energy projects and in agriculture," the Haitian Foreign Minister indicated.
The initiative comes within the framework of Petrocaribe, an alliance established by Venezuela 3 years ago offering Caribbean countries preferential terms to pay for their oil imports.
