A new United State's ambassador to Haiti


Michele Jeanne Sison, a career diplomat with 35 years with the U.S. State Department, presented her credentials to President Jovenel Moise as United State’s ambassador to Haiti on Wednesday.

“It was a great honor to present my credentials to President Jovenel Moise this morning,” Ambassador Michel Sison said at the National Palace.

“Haiti and the USA share a strong commitment to freedom, democracy, and the rule of law. Haiti is of vital interest to the United States and the entire Western Hemisphere,” she continued .

Ambassador Sison emphasized that “the United States is committed to working with the Government of Haiti and the international community to build a more secure and self-sufficient Haiti.

Ambassador Sison was sworn in as U.S. Ambassador to Haiti on February 12, 2018.

Michele J. Sison recently completed three years as Deputy U.S. Representative to the United Nations in New York.

She also served three previous Chief of Mission postings, as U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka and Maldives, U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon, and U.S. Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.
