City ofDelmas is installing more than 300 surveillance cameras along the busy street to crack down on crime. The cameras will cover an area from Delmas 62 to Delmas 2 and Carrefour from the airport to Trois-Mains (close to SONAPI).
“It’s a smart way to try to make the city safer,” said Delmas Mayor Wilson Jeudy to Dreamintv. “The plan is to make the area safer with more lights and cameras”.
“Police officers can control the cameras from desktop computers at the station and would be able to locate, identify and arrest after investigation all individuals committing an offense,” said Jean Bruce Myrtil, head of the Delmas police station.
