Kidnapped Haiti hospital chief freed
Doctor Jerry Bitar was kidnapped and later released without ransom payment, according to
his twin Doctor Marlon Bitar.
Dr. Jerry Bitar, a surgeon, was kidnapped Thursday, shortly after leaving for work at Hospital Bernard Mevs from his home in an upmarket neighbourhood of Port-au-Prince.
“In the face of the coronavirus pandemic, it is abnormal to take the hospital’s doctor,” said Jean Wilguens Charles, a local resident whose friends have received treatment at the hospital.
Several employees of the Bernard Mevs hospital had confided their amazement and their anger after the kidnapping of doctor Bitar.
