Haiti on Thursday agreed "to not recognize the legitimacy of Nicolas Maduro’s new term as of the 10th of January of 2019."
“Historically, Haiti, like much of the Caribbean, has undermined U.S. efforts to defend Venezuela’s crumbling democracy,” said Benjamin Gedan, who served as National Security Council director for South America during the Obama administration.
“Venezuela’s government is now officially recognized as a dictatorship, which rules over the wreckage of a once prosperous country.” he added
The resolution was approved with 19 votes in favor, 6 against, 8 abstentions and one absent.
